Oracle Consulting Database Administrator 

Nashville, TN
Position Summary
The Oracle Consulting Database Administrator are leaders within our Data Management organization, and provide operational support of our existing database environment, development support for the creation of new database environments and for the implementation and customization of 3rd-party packages, and guidance and expertise for the continuous improvement of uninterrupted operations.
The Oracle Consulting DBA will work with other technicians, business analysts, and business owners to understand requirements and identify solutions.  The Consulting DBA is expected to possess and utilize significant breadth and depth of experience in the design, development, maintenance, and administration of databases, and will be expected to work with little supervision.

The key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
1. Physical database design, construction, & implementation using current Oracle database technology
2. Collaborative design & development with programmers and business analysts
3. Problem analysis, diagnosis, and implementation of resolutions
4. Performance monitoring & tuning
5. On-call support for production systems, jobstreams, and processes
6. Database backup (archive) & recovery
7. Business continuity planning
8. Capacity planning, monitoring, and upgrade implementation
9. Database Software upgrade planning and implementation
Educational Requirement & Technical Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required[KS2] 
Requires more than 7 years total IT experience and more than 5 years with relevant Oracle database technology.

Thorough understanding of networking with respect to oracle database connectivity and troubleshooting of connectivity errors
Required Job Skills:
  1. Strong interpersonal skills, including a desire to work within a highly-matrixed, team-oriented environment. Independent operators are not sought and will not be successful in this position.  
  2. Demonstrated performance monitoring and tuning ability, including an aptitude to lead the diagnosis and resolution of performance problems within a large-scale, complex infrastructure.
  3. Expertise in configuration and administration of large Oracle database systems
  4. Ability to define and gain adoption of best practice techniques.
  5. Ability to take application requirements and build a system design that matches the performance profile needed.  This includes memory, processor, storage, networking and RAC vs NON-RAC considerations.

 [KS1]For an architect role the technical skill is more important than anything else.  Of course is the person can’t get along with anyone then we don’t want them.

Primary Duties
65% - Projects
  • Serve as the OnBase technical lead on small, medium, and some large-scale implementation projects involving multiple departments
  • Understand and interpret customer requirements. Design and implement document imaging and enterprise content management solutions to fit those requirements.
  • Enhance existing OnBase solutions as prioritized and per customer requirements
  • Design and implement inbound and outbound document interfaces as requested and prioritized.  Interfaces may utilize batch, HL-7 or other import/export methodologies.
  • Establish and meet target dates.  While not responsible for entire project plan, responsible for creating own tasks within a project plan
  • Actively participate in project team meetings as required.  Assume ownership of action items and assigned tasks.
  • Perform requisite testing of new solutions, integrations and enhancements in non-production environments as necessary.
  • Expected to multitask effectively while assigned to multiple concurrent projects
  • Create and publish support documentation and provide cross-training to team members
  • Train and mentor new and junior team members as required.
35% - Operational Support
  • Perform operational support responsibilities for break/fix incidents for OnBase solutions across the enterprise as needed, and according to internal service level agreement target response times for incident resolution
  • Perform routine system administration tasks across all supported solutions across the enterprise
  • Identify root cause, and implement permanent corrective actions as required for systemic, persistent, and/or repeatable incidents
  • Resolve moderate and complex on-call support issues without assistance
  • Identify, design and implement improved and enhanced monitoring and alerting capabilities as needed
  • Initiate, design and implement automated system administration and routine tasks as needed
  • Adhere to internal change management guidelines and standard
  • Participate in the team’s 24/7 on-call support rotation.

Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate  - college degree  preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • One or more Hyland OnBase certifications are strongly preferred (OnBase Ver. 13 or higher) such as:
          - OnBase Certified System Administrator (OCSA)
          - OnBase Certified Advanced System Administrator (OCASA)
          - OnBase Certified Installer (OCI)
          - OnBase Certified WorkFlow Administrator (OCWA)
          - OnBase Certified WorkFlow Engineer (OCWE)
  • Certified Document Imaging Architect (CDIA+) Certification is desired
  • Certified Information Professional (CIP) or Enterprise Content Management Practitioner (ECMp) certification is desired
  • Experience supporting Open Text RightFax or similar enterprise faxing solution is desired
  • Microsoft server system administration (MSCE certification) is desired
  • Microsoft client O/S and browser support experience is required
  • Experience with remote server and application support tools & techniques is required (Remote Desktop, WebEx, GoTo Meeting, etc….)
  • Experience with enterprise-class storage subsystem architectures and configuration is preferred
  • Client hardware capture device (scanners, tablets, input and other capture devices) experience is preferred
  • Experience with VB scripting and development is desired
  • Experience with SQL Server query development is desired
  • Strong knowledge of personal computer systems and Microsoft Office (or other similar productivity applications to support e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheet applications)
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of staff and senior management
  • Strong analytical background
  • Proven system administration and application support experience with enterprise-class software solutions, preferably with top-tier Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions is desired
